An update from Wellbeing at Garon Park

Through this recent demanding and challenging time, Wellbeing at Garon Park has continued to work hard to develop a programme of activities which will improve the health and wellbeing of local people. The development of these facilities will enhance the environmental and wildlife value of the site and the diagram below shows the sort of facilities that will be available when complete.

Latest news

We are excited to say that the path has now been laid and lots of planting has been happening. The sensory garden with a wildlife pond and herbie man is well under way and the pergola walk is in place. We have 420 trees from Woodland Trust arriving in October for our orchard.

We have recruited a Site Development Manager and Community Relationship Co-ordinator who will work together to ensure that our local community are aware of all the activities and events available as soon as we are able to open our gates, whilst following government guidance.

The Garon Park Shed will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so.

Garon Park (GPCIC)

We see Garon Park as a ‘club for clubs’; a place where clubs and groups of all shapes and sizes can become a key user and introduce their associates to the facilities on offer and where the different groups can all have a stake in this community space and be able to fulfill their aims and ambitions by working with us to develop the facilities on site and to create a safe and sustainable provision.

Football

With the 3G pitch firmly in place along with a range of grass pitches, we are hoping to kick start our football leagues from September (following government guidance). The clubhouse, with kitchen, bar and changing facilities is ready and waiting, and we also have a new café area, with outside space, which will be serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and hot dogs.

We are hoping to launch the season in August, so look at for communications on that.

Cricket

Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have been unable to host the cricket programme for 2020, but are looking forward to a packed programme of events and matches in 2021.

The Boundary Marquee

The marquee is in place and also has a lot of outside space, so when restrictions are lifted, why not have a get together here. Unfortunately, a lot of weddings and other events have rescheduled to 2021, so plenty of availability to be had.

Music Events

All 2020 music events have been cancelled, but we already have the acts booked for 2021. We have a full programme confirmd and more and more big names want to come to Garon Park to put on a show for you.
